Finding the perfect partner is a complex task that requires a lot of effort and patience. Most of us have an ideal partner in mind, but the process of finding that special someone can be quite daunting. We usually rely on trial and error to find a loving partner, but we never really analyze the process we go through to go from being single to being married.
As someone who has been a boyfriend, a husband, a single husband*, and even a transition man, I know firsthand that each position offers a unique perspective on what many people are going through. After making a lot of mistakes and wasting a lot of time, I decided to pay attention to the process we use to find a mate.
I realized that we subconsciously create a list of must-haves, which are the things that we want our partner to possess to show that we are evenly yoked. These must-haves can be anything from physical appearance to personality traits and values. However, we also need to possess certain tangible items and intangible traits to attract and keep the attention of a potential partner.
In order to capture the attention of a person to go through the process of starting a relationship, we must be willing to possess certain tangible items and intangible traits to let the other person know we are worthy of their time and capable of sustaining a long-term relationship as well. These traits can include things like being emotionally available, being a good listener, showing empathy, and being honest and trustworthy.
If you want to have a better chance at being in a long-term relationship, you must make yourself “Undumpable”. This means being the best version of yourself and constantly working on self-improvement. It means being willing to give and take, being flexible, and being open to trying new things. By doing these things, you will not only attract the right person but also keep them in your life for the long haul.
